EA’s presentation at the E3 expo this year has been marked by release date announcements for many of their upcoming titles, including Battlefield 3 which will be launching on 25 October this year, before Activision’s Modern Warfare 3 hits shelves.
Mass Effect 3’s launch date has been set for 6 March 2012 while the newest instalment of a previously dormant franchise, SSX, will be landing sometime in January next year. Need for Speed: The Run, a racing title that will apparently feature free-running sections in between driving, was demonstrated but was given a vague date of before the end of this year. Need for Speed: The Run will be using Battlefield 3’s Frostbite 2 engine.
Other titles demoed at EA’s presentation were Insomniac’s Overstrike, a multiplatform 4-player shooter, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Also announced was The Sims: Social, a Facebook title.
