Kaos Studios, the developer behind THQ’s Homefront, as well as THQ Digital Warrington will be closing down, with most of the work being done at these studios shifting over to THQ Montreal. 70 staff members from Kaos stand to be out of work, though they have been invited to apply for positions at THQ’s Austin, Vancouver and Montreal branches.
The shutdown is part of what THQ calls a ‘strategic realignment’. In a statement sent to gaming website Gamasutra THQ said “THQ continues its strategy of aligning the best industry talent with the company’s marquee franchises…The Montreal studio will take over product development and overall creative management for the Homefront franchise. The Montreal studio actively collaborated with Kaos on Homefront”.
Reports of the closure first originated on Twitter, according to Gamesindustry.biz.
