New names but still the same old ...
If Nvidia’s new GTX 2xx naming system wasn’t confusing enough for the average consumer, then the rebranding of some of the 9 series cards will be.
Nvidia has decided that renaming its previous generation cards, a generation that hasn’t exactly been flying off the shelves, would boost sales and bring it in line with the current flagship card naming scheme.
Here is a quick rundown of the name changes;
The GeForce GTS 150 is a die-shrunk version of the GeForce 9800GTX+; the GeForce GT 130 is a die-shrunk version of the 9600GT; and the GeForce GT 120 is a die-shrunk version of the 9500GT.
The name changes apply to the current 55nm 9-series cards.
The name changes are as useful as the road name changes in the major South African cities, honestly the money and effort could be better spent somewhere else.
Come on Nvidia, stop rehashing the old stock and give us amazing cards like the 8800GT.
