Google might have had access to EVERYTHING you submit online
Try this on for size. Here is the original text from Chrome’s unaltered End User Licence Agreement.
It gave Google "a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services."
Now, if that doesn’t freak you out, very little will. They claim that they had simply popped across the usual EULA that is used for almost everything else Google owns.
It has since been amended though. It now reads that end-users "retain copyright and any other rights" to information entered into the Chrome browser, assuming that you had those tights to begin with.
Google bowed under pressure from folks who had actually read the EULA prior to installing their new wonder-product, Chrome.
