Intel shows off Core i7 behind closed doors
In a whirlwind affair, PCF was sent to London to attend an Intel Nehalem press workshop. So off went our reporter to see the most anticipated processor this year. There is one unfortunate aspect of what our journo saw, he is unable to tell anyone the sheer awesomeness of the Core i7 in action.
The Core i7 is amazing, while benchmark results are wrapped up in non-disclosure agreements we can tell you about the fact that HyperThreading (or SMT as Intel calls it) actually works, and it works well.
We saw frame rates double just by turning Simultaneous Multithreading on. Oh how it pains us not to tell you the things we saw that chip do, we can’t even tell you the specs of the system that Intel had on display. Unfortunately their enterprise workstation was stuck in Heathrow Customs so we were unable to witness the 8 core version.
