States that the information is outdated
Advice for Apple users was removed from the companies Knowledgebase, with Apple explaining that the information contained was out-of-date. The information in question recommended that Apple users make certain that they have an anti-virus solution installed on their Mac.
The information that was removed had originally been posted in 2007 and it advised Mac users to make certain that they had an anti-virus, citing MacAfee, Symantec and Intego as possible programs for use. Company representatives removed the information after it came to light in recent news, leaving some wondering whether there were possible holes in the security of the Mac OS.
Most analysts agree that Apple was just being overly careful with regards to the security of their systems and that there is little to fear over the antivirus information that was posted. Apple has long had a reputation for being very secretive about security on their systems.
