Wiki ban lifted

Album cover can be displayed

A previous ban by Britain’s Internet Watch Foundation has been lifted on the controversial album cover Virgin Killers by The Scorpions. The IWF had previously banned the image for being “potentially illegal” because it featured a naked prepubescent girl on the cover with only a lens crack covering her genitals.

In a statement the IWF provide an explanation for its decision to lift the ban on the 32-year old album cover, "The IWF board has today considered these findings and the contextual issues involved in this specific case, and – in the light of the length of time the image has existed and its wide availability – the decision has been taken to remove this web page from our list.”

The IWF also said that while the image is hosted abroad it would be ignore but if the image is found to be on UK servers then the ban would be reinstated.
