A new method to build displays seems imminent
Hewlett Packard are working on a new flexible display that will be cheaper t manufacture and will consume less power than traditional display units. Built mostly from plastic, the new display is being billed as “unbreakable”.
According to HP, the process to build these flexible displays will consume up to 90 percent less materials than current displays do. They will also be less resource intensive than current models.
HP is the creators of SAIL or the self-aligned imprint lithography principle, the main technology behind the new display. The process means that, regardless of any distorting from the manufacture process, images displayed will remain perfectly aligned.
The thin display is being developed by Hewlett Packard in association with the Flexible Display Center or FDC.
