Sony Ericsson unveils its first Android phone

Sony Ericsson has unveiled its first Android phone, the XPERIA X10. Sony Ericsson has stated that the XPERIA X10 will only go on sale early 2010. Sony Ericsson has been notably absent from the Android phone market.

The XPERIA X10 will feature a 4-inch touch screen and will have an 8.1 megapixel camera. The new phone will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon ARM-based processor. Current Snapdragon processors run at 1GHz and feature in the new HTC HD2.

Analysts believe the announcement of the new XPERIA X10 will hurt sales of Sony Ericsson’s current flagship phone, the Satio. Sony Ericsson has seen a 45% shrink in third-quarter sales year-on-year.
