The next step in the AMD-Intel war or looking out for the consumer
Intel has announced that they are once again cutting prices on some of their processor range.
Seven of the Intel server and desktop processors have been slashed by up to 30 percent in some cases. The chips are: the Core2 Duo E8500; E8400; E7200; Xeon X3220; X3210; E3110 and the Core2 Quad Q6600.
Each of them has seen a reduction in price, the second such reduction that Intel has since April this year.
Intel believes that some of these chips will be discontinued in the next few months and wants to keep them moving out of stores until then, their stated reason for the price cut.
However, some of the CPUs are expected to hang around for the next few years. All of the above chips fell in cost between 11 and 31 percent. In April, a 50 percent drop was announced on a range of Intel chipsets.
