It’s a good start, now how about the rest of them?
On Tuesday Adam Vitale was sentenced to a two and a half year stretch in the big house in the USA. His crime? He was found guilty of spamming over 1.2 million e-mail addresses over a four-month period.
The total number of messages sent by Adam and his partner, Todd Moeller totalled around a quarter of a million. These were sent in bulk, totalling around 300000000000 messages sent to users.
They were also ordered to hand over $180 000 to AOL, whose users had been targeted in the spam campaign. The duo made use of false headers and routed their mails through open proxies to escape detection but was busted when offering their spamming services to a government informant.
Moeller, who pleaded guilty to his charges, was given a slightly reduced sentence.
