Dark Matter revealed


Hubble Telescope spots something of minor interest



To be fair, the images captures were a joint effort by the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory.



What they show is a very distant impact of two clusters, some 5.7 million light years from earth.



Using a technique called gravitational lensing; observers were able to capture the collision between conventional matter and dark matter. In the collision, conventional matter shows up as pink while the dark matter is blue.



Evidence from the sighting shows that the normal matter, which is composed of gas, slows down while the dark matter does not.


This seems to indicate that dark matter’s particles interact with each other on a very minor scale.



It only appears to react to gravitational forces. This discovery confirms information from a similar sighting in 2006 in an area called the Bullet Cluster.
