First the jets, then the script kiddies
Russia seems to be the first country to wage a war the 21st Century way.
After bombing key military targets Russia then turned its attention on Georgia’s communications infrastructure. Russian hackers have successfully run a continuous attack against a number of Georgian sites and servers.
The Russian offensive has been achieved by the use of thousands of hijacked PCs that are flooding the Caucasus Network with spoofed traffic.
The Russians have also attacked the Georgian Foreign Affairs website and replaced all the official photos with ones that depict the Georgian President as a Nazi.
Currently Russian hackers control all traffic to Georgia’s key servers. A group of German hackers managed, for a brief period, to re-route traffic through Deutsche Telekom. It seems for once that the Germans are the good guys.
