Not a Mexican sci-fi movie, rather, water discovered on Titan
In a bit of a stab at the folks working on the Mars project, scientists recently discovered the existence of a liquid lake and some beachfront property on one of Saturn’s moons, Titan.
The lake that was spotted by the Cassini craft orbiting the moon is likely composed of hydrocarbons. It is the first extraterrestrial body of liquid discovered.
The lake site was identified by the use of the VIMS or Visible and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer which identified the body of liquid as a darkened area on the survey.
Scientists believe that there is a cycle close to that of Earth’s water cycle, which involves methane and ethane rather than our H2O.
There has been talk since the discovery of preparing and sending a lander to investigate the composition of the liquid body, in an effort to learn more about Titan.
This would allow scientists to study the makeup of Titan, which may correspond closely to that conditions on Earth which allows life to spawn.
