Mt. Rebdoubt could awake
The last time Mt. Rebdoubt erupted it nearly brought down a Boeing 747, this time scientist aren’t taking any chances and have issued a orange aviation alert for the mountain.
In 1989 Mt. Rebdoubt erupted a KLM Boeing 747 suffered full engine failure and the windshield got sandblasted so the crew was only able to see out of a small section.Luckily the crew landed the aircraft safely.
Mt. Rebdoubt started rumbling on the 23 January 2009 but residents in the area started smelling the Hydrogen Sulphide released by the volcano in September.
Hydrogen Sulphide is characterised by a rotten egg smell and is usually one of the first signs of volcanic activity. Anchorage will more than likely be affected by ashfall if Mt. Rebdoubt erupts.
