PC maker branches out in tech
Computer company Dell is expanding their product lines in the very near future. Dell, known for its desktop and notebook platforms of computer systems, is gearing up to begin producing smart phones. They have had the plan in the works for some time and could have events in motion by as early as next month.
Dell plans to model their smart phone on Google’s Android OS and one model will have an interface similar to the iPhone. Dell intends to take on the market currently dominated by Apple and Research in Motion who control the iPhone and BlackBerry brands respectively.
These plans are not completely finalised however and may not come to fruition. Their thoughts on diversifying their product range come on the heels of flagging sales in their other departments as a result of the economic downturn.
