US President-elect is the interactive President
It would seem that President-Elect Barack Obama not only won the elections but also the internet. Obama was praised for the innovative use of social networking sites FaceBook and MySpace during his campaign for presidency.
Since Obama’s victory he has been posting weekly videos on YouTube and is likely to continue to do so after he takes office. Obama has over 3.7 million Facebook friends and 1 million MySpace friends. His campaign database has the information of nearly 13 million supporters.
Mr. Obama’s staff has been monitoring his YouTube, Facebook and MySpace pages for any comments and ideas from supporters. The team is also monitoring the community blog on change.gov and the best ideas will be put into a book and given to the President-elect when he takes office.
Mr. Obama and his team are expected to give the whitehouse.gov site a makeover as well as making it as interactive as Obama’s current site change.gov. It is estimated that Obama’s inauguration next week will be the most watch video event in the history of the internet.
