Samsung Electronics announced on Friday that they will be targeting the PC gaming community with their new 256GB Solid State drives. Samsung believes that as SSD technology grows it will soon present a viable alternative to traditional mechanical drives, particularly in the gaming arena.
Raymond Walsh, associate director of memory marketing at Samsung Europe said of their new drives, “The blistering speed and dazzling photovisuals enabled by Samsung’s 256GB SSD are impressing enhancements for the gaming experience. Providing up to five-fold the performance of HDDs, Samsung’s 256GB SSD reduces data loading time for faster game performance which is another enhanced feature in addition to low power consumption, high graphic card performance and high resolution monitors that PC gamers demand.”
Samsung’s Solid State drives have been tested while loading games, often reducing load times down to a few seconds. Samsung will be offering solid-state enabled systems to the public at this year’s World Cyber Games.
