Firefox 3 released today

If you don’t already know, it is available for download…

The long-awaited Firefox 3 has been loaded for download and seems to be setting some sort of record for a web browser.

Mozilla are in fact trying to set a Guiness world record for the most downloads in a 24 hour period and the download frequency was last reported at around 14 000 downloads a minute.

The ever-popular add-ons for Firefox are also almost all ready with 75% or so of the most popular already Firefox 3 compatible.

This release also sees the flare-up of the so-called “browser wars” once again with all of the proponents of the various browsers gearing up for newer releases and features.

We cannot forget that Windows IE has in the past taken some of Firefox’s innovations into their own browser in an attempt to compete. It is just possible that the open-source program will be giving Microsoft a much bigger run for their money than they thought possible.
