Futuremark cries foul
Nvidia have been caught out yet again in what can only be described as blantant cheating.
The new 177.39 drivers are specially coded to provide false results from the CPU Physics test in 3Dmark Vantage. The drivers replace the existing PhysX API DLLs with newer ones that shift physic computations to the GPU which is obviously directly in conflict with the purpose of the test.
Nvidia have yet to submit the 177.39 drivers to Futuremark for approval and in all likelihood they never will. Granted the PhysX API now can utilize the new GTX 200 series cards instead of needing a PhysX card, but to skew the tests by shifting the load is just not cricket.
In all fairness Intel and Ati have yet to submit their latest drivers (or in Intel’s case any drivers at all) for approval by Futuremark. Whats the point of a benchmark if everyone is cheating for the best results.
