An Illinois resident in the United States has filed a suit against Microsoft, claiming that the Xbox 360 console maker is enriching itself by selling units that it is aware are faulty. Microsoft is now facing legal action yet again as a result of its console.
The man who filed the suit sent his Xbox 360 for repairs after it stopped working in December 2008. At the time, the Xbox had just left the one-year warrantee period and he was charged a fee for the repair/replacement. The fault was not the dreaded Red Ring of Death, which is covered by a three-year warrantee.
The man wants a court to approve his complaint for class-action status and is seeking damages and restitution from Microsoft as well as an injunction preventing the company from selling any more Xbox 360s. Microsoft has not yet commented.
