Intel has appealed the EU antitrust fine which was levied on it at the start of the second financial quarter for 2009. The landmark $1.45 billion fine caused Intel to post up its first quarterly loss in over 22 years.
Intel has claimed that the EU failed to look at other available evidence and in some cases refused to look at evidence that was available. None of the parties concerned are able to divulge any of the evidence brought before the European Commission due to the court filings being under seal. Intel has appealed on the grounds of human rights abuses but stated that this was among many arguments it had prepared for its appeal.
A spokesman for Intel said that it [Intel] “would probably fire our lawyers” if the appeal team did not pursue any and all possible means of defence of the company.
