Microsoft has changed its mind concerning giving Beta testers free copies of Windows 7 Ultimate. Back in December 2008, at the start of the Beta testing cycle, Microsoft had said that Beta testers might not receive a free copy of Windows 7.
Last week Microsoft confirmed that Beta testers would not be receiving copies of the new OS, however yesterday Microsoft announced that the Beta testers would in fact receive a full, non-upgrade retail version of the OS.
The free copies are only for those members of the Beta program which ran before the Beta went public. These individuals were invited to join the program and submit feedback on the OS.
